This is a new demonstration of France’s support for Ukraine. Thursday evening, June 6, during his speech, the President of the Republic announced the delivery of combat aircraft to kyiv, Mirage 2000-5s. A crucial announcement for Ukraine, target of daily bombings. Half the country is without electricity. “French fighters go faster, can fire simultaneously on several targets”explains Alban Mikoczy, journalist specializing in international issues.
Another announcement: offering to equip and train 4,500 Ukrainian soldiers. Emmanuel Macron says he wants to help Ukraine resist Russia and at the same time calls for de-escalation. “On the Russian side, there are greater threats, greater military activities of aggression”, observes Yves Doutriaux, former French ambassador to the OSCE. The number of Mirage 2000-5 combat aircraft transferred to Ukraine remains unknown. Their delivery should take place by the end of the year, following the training of Ukrainian pilots in France.
