Sarah Fillier grew up an NHL fan, watching the league’s draft every year.
Now that she’s about to become a professional herself, she can’t wait to have her own moment like this.
Many believe that Fillier is the first overall pick as the Professional Women’s Hockey League draft approaches on Monday.
A 23-year-old center from Georgetown, a suburb of Toronto, she said it would be an honor to be drafted in the first round, even more so first overall.

Fillier has won three world championships as well as Olympic gold with Canada over the past four years. She has 20 goals and 31 points in 28 games with the national team.

She was also a star in the NCAA, with Princeton.
In 2023-24, Fillier has 30 goals and 43 points in 29 games with the Tigers.
She finished her career there with 93 goals and 194 points.
However, there will be “a little learning curve” ahead, in his own opinion.
“I have a little experience adjusting and readjusting to the context of the game, but there it will definitely be unknown,” she said during a video conference on Thursday.
