The Professional Football League, which is still negotiating with the various players for television rights for the period 2024-2029, is seriously considering, in the event of failure of the negotiations, launching its own channel, the Sports Directorate learned on Thursday June 6 from Radio France from corroborating sources, confirming information from Parisian and of the Team.

It would be a channel at 25 euros per month with all Ligue 1 matches and broadcast via various channels: internet service providers (ISPs) and streaming platforms. This channel, made in Ligue, has been in the pipeline since 2021, before Amazon recovered most of the television rights to French football. As a reminder, the call for tenders for Ligue 1 TV rights was launched on September 12 and proved unsuccessful a month later.

A formula which was presented during the last board of directors of the League. The club presidents were receptive despite some concern over a file that has dragged on for several months.

Since then, the LFP, via its president Vincent Labrune, has negotiated over-the-counter with the various players, in particular the Qatari channel BeIn Sports. The latter, which seemed able to match the price requested by the League – 700 million euros for national rights – has still not given its approval.
