Nine Israeli soldiers were injured on Tuesday, including two seriously, in the explosion of munitions on a military base in the south of the country, the Israeli army announced on Wednesday June 5, which launched an investigation into this matter.
“There was an ammunition explosion at a military base in the south of the country. The incident is under investigation”declared the Israeli army in a brief message in Hebrew, reporting nine injured including two “seriously”.
“The soldiers were evacuated to receive medical treatment at a hospital”, added the army. According to the Israeli press, the explosion took place on a base located in the Negev desert, a vast region which partly faces the Gaza Strip. Questioned by AFP, the Israeli army did not provide further details on the nature of the explosives involved in this incident.
