Scam and scam attempts are flourishing on our cell phones. An application, downloadable from Thursday June 6 and developed by Orange, will make it possible to spot them.

We sometimes have a little trouble finding our way when we receive certain SMS: official message, or scam? Difficult to disentangle fact from fiction. Parcel tracking, vital card… There are many pitfalls. The operator Orange has developed an application that allows you to spot these scams. Developed in a center dedicated to business cyber protection, it promises to fight against this phenomenon. “As soon as a new threat appears on the internet, we analyze it and introduce it into our ‘knowledge base’ of all the threats that exist”explains Frédérik Zink, general director of Orange Cyberdéfense.

Orange now wants to use this database for individuals. “Often there is an urgency” in these messages, underlines Benjamin Serre, head of development for Orange Cyberdéfense France. A simple copy and paste of the content of the email or SMS received can then remove any doubt. The application, downloadable from Thursday June 6, will also identify malicious calls. Features accessible for free, whatever your mobile operator.
