Assassins were sentenced to life imprisonment with irreducible sentences. But today they are coming to an end… Guy Georges and Patrice Alègre could thus be released from prison.

Sentenced to life, but today, free. Guy Georges, Patrice Alègre and even Jean-Michel Jourdain, who buried his victims on a beach in Pas-de-Calais, have served their security period. They can therefore apply for conditional release. Cédric Volckaert was 10 years old when, in 1993, his sister Karine was kidnapped while leaving school. She is raped and murdered in Perpignan. She was eight years old. The murderer, Patrick Tissier, a family friend, is a repeat offender. After 30 years behind bars, he has been available for release since September 2023, at the age of 71.

Karine’s brother doesn’t want to hear about parole. “In perpetuity means until the end, until everything ends. Apparently, this is not valid for everyone,” he laments. To hope to be released, prisoners serving long sentences must file a request with the courts. Some of them have already done so.
