By the end of the year, the price of a consultation with a general practitioner could rise to 30 euros. An increase which also concerns specialists and worries many French people.

It’s official: a consultation with a general practitioner will go from 26.50 euros to 30 euros. Just enough to stay afloat so that the caregiver can pay their office expenses. “It’s quite simply maintaining the price of the consultation by following inflation,” explains Doctor Agnès Giannotti, also president of MG France. A price increase which “allows certain practices to be maintained”, she underlines. Only those who do not have mutual insurance will have to pay the co-payment of 10 euros.

The consultation with a specialist will range between 30 and 60 euros. Some fear an explosion in fee overruns. “I think that, as usual, everything is going wrong,” confides a local resident. “This should not increase mutual insurance”adds a young woman. “We are going to have an increase in the value of the real act between specialists and general practitioners”, warns Frédéric Bizard, economist specializing in health. New prices which could be applied from the beginning of December.
