Like every day, theEurozapping makes the rounds of European news. Thursday January 6, Italy, Spain and Poland celebrated Epiphany.
Nativity parades have resumed in Spain, despite the Covid-19. A colorful parade, for the arrival of the Three Kings, with the return of masked spectators, but happy despite some restrictions. “The only thing I didn’t like was that they didn’t give out any candy, but, otherwise, I loved it”, comments a little boy. A short-lived frustration, because Thursday, January 6 in the morning, the children were able to discover their gifts. In Spain, it is the Three Kings who bring them.
The little Italians were also delighted. In Italy, it is the Befana, a witch, who comes to reward good children. The charities made sure that no one was left behind. In Poland, Epiphany is first and foremost a religious holiday. Joseph, Mary and the baby Jesus welcome the Three Kings. Even if the festivities were reduced this year, because of the health crisis, they still took place in nearly 700 municipalities.
