Vaccination passport: unions want more security guards in the SAQ and SQDC

The imposition of the vaccination passport in the branches of the SAQ and the SQDC from January 18 constitutes “above all” a security measure for the personnel.

This is the opinion of the Union of employees of stores and offices of the SAQ and Union of employees of the SQDC who believe that the decision of the Legault government raises security issues.

Claiming to have the safety of employees at heart, the two unions affiliated to the CSN are asking for more security officers to avoid any risk of overflow.

“For us, given that this new measure may cause frustration or even lead to aggressive behavior among some customers, we must ensure that operations take place in a calm manner and to do this, we ask that there be security guards in all branches as of January 18, ”said Lisa Courtemanche, President of SEMB-SAQ-CSN.

“Although there are already security guards at the entrance to branches, this does not prevent the risk of overflow in the days following the entry into force of the measure, hence the importance of have a sufficient number of staff and the necessary equipment to ensure the smooth and safe implementation of this new measure, ”added Steve Bédard, President of the SEE-SQDC-CSN.

The Federation of Public Service Employees welcomes the time allowed to apply the new measure.

“This delay will leave the time necessary for employers, on the one hand, to consult the unions and, on the other hand, for the employees of the various branches to adjust, which will make it possible to avoid rushing customers and improvised work ”, reacted Benoît Malenfant, president of the FEESP-CSN.
