The Garfield Movie tops the North American box office

(Los Angeles) The red feline Garfield took the lead at the North American box office for its second week in theaters, according to Sunday projections from specialist firm Exhibitor Relations.


With $14 million in revenue between Friday and Sunday, The Garfield MovieSony’s adaptation of the humorous adventures of the famous lazy cat and lasagna lover, dominated the box office.

Just behind, IFthe story of a young girl who has the gift of seeing imaginary creatures, with Cailey Fleming and Ryan Reynolds, collects 10.8 million dollars in revenue.

Neck and neck with Garfield for first place during last week’s long holiday weekend, the fifth installment of the postapocalyptic saga Mad Max, Furiosa: A Mad Max Sagawith Anya Taylor-Joy, is only in third place on the podium with $10.75 million in revenue.

The latest installment of the ape science fiction saga Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes took fourth place with $8.8 million.

The film The Fall guyfeaturing Canadian actor Ryan Gosling as a seasoned stuntman, took fifth place with $4.2 million.

Overall, the May box office was down 43.3% compared to the average for that month in 2017-2019, according to analyst David A. Gross of Franchise Entertainment Research.
