965th consecutive game | Keith Yandle becomes the NHL’s new iron man

(New York) Philadelphia Flyers defenseman Keith Yandle set the NHL record for most consecutive games with 965 on Tuesday.

Although his people lost for a 13and times in a row, Yandle broke a Doug Jarvis mark, stretching from October 8, 1975 to October 10, 1987.

Yandle’s streak began on March 26, 2009 while he was wearing a Phoenix Coyotes uniform. He played a total of 1075 games with the Coyotes, New York Rangers, Florida Panthers and Flyers.

Three-time All-Star selection Yandle is in his first season with the Flyers.

He hasn’t scored so far, but he has 13 assists.

The 35-year-old was on the ice for the opening face-off Tuesday night. The Islanders won 4-3, extending the Flyers’ miseries.

Noah Dobson, Anders Lee, Mathew Barzal and Zach Parise had the game-winning goals.

Pabrise broke the deadlock midway through the third period.

Claude Giroux, Justin Braun and Gerry Mayhew scored the goals for the Flyers.

The team will play again on Saturday at home against the Los Angeles Kings.

Coyotes forward Phil Kessel is third in consecutive games (940).

He too could overtake Jarvis before the end of the season.
