Oscar for Best Picture CODAaward for best director to Jane Campion (for The Power of the Dog), Oscars for interpretation to Will Smith (King Richard), Jessica Chastain (The Eyes of Tammy Faye), Ariana DeBose (West Side Story) and Troy Kotsur (CODA), statuette of the best international film for Drive My Car : our critic Marc-André Lussier was able to predict the outcome of the Academy’s vote in the seven advanced categories on which he had decided. And you ?
Among the 745 participants in a quiz posted on our platforms, only 8 moviegoers matched our critic’s perfect score. Some 35% of respondents had four or more correct answers.
Jane Campion’s victory came as no big surprise to our readers: 584 respondents had guessed that she would take the Dolby Theater stage on Sunday. A large majority (477 participants) had also seen the triumph of Drive My Car in the category of best international film. In contrast, only 104 readers predicted that the Best Picture Oscar would go to CODA.
Lesson to be learned for next year: trust our critic’s instincts!
