This rescue brings the number of survivors on board to 90, the NGO said in a statement. Among those rescued on Sunday, including “none had a life jacket”there are 34 unaccompanied minors, “four pregnant women, eight children and a 9-month-old baby”, said the NGO. Last March, the ship already had 128 people in the Mediterranean.
Friday, theocean viking had already rescued 15 people “who were on a fiberglass boat in distress in international waters off Libya”recalled SOS Méditerranée, adding that here again “none of the castaways was wearing a life jacket”.
