85% of medical appointments made for children are booked by women, according to data compiled by the online platform Doctolib, and collected on Wednesday March 8 by France Inter. Of the nearly 31 million appointments made in 2022, all practitioners combined, nearly 26 million were booked by women. “These figures are edifying because they objectify the mental workload of women”reacts Elise Bert, one of the leaders of Doctolib, with France Inter.

>> REPORT. Mental load: even during the holidays, women still take on more of the task than their spouse, according to a study

In an attempt to reduce inequalities, Doctolib offers to share the child’s account on the platform. Each of the two parents will therefore be able to book, modify or cancel an appointment for their child, without having to know the codes of their spouse.

The platform also offers dematerialized prescriptions. The document will therefore be accessible to both parents, who will be able to go to the pharmacy to obtain the necessary medication.
