The magazine “8:30 p.m. on Saturday”, presented by Laurent Delahousse just after the 8 p.m. news on France 2, reveals the little story in the big one, to leaf through like a family album.

8:30 p.m. Saturday(New window)“(X(New window)) went to meet one of the cult artists of French song heritage, but also one of the most discreet: Francis Cabrel. For this, the teams traveled 700 kilometers from Paris to department 47, because it is in Lot-et-Garonne, in Astaffort, his stronghold and his village, that the singer of Little Mary lives most often. He rarely leaves it because it is the only place that inspires him.

It was in this village that he created Les Rencontres d’Astaffort thirty years ago in order to welcome and motivate young artists who too often work alone. For nine days, authors and composers work together and broaden their skills whatever their musical universe. The 15 best creations are selected and presented to the public during a concert on the last day of the course. Exceptionally, Francis Cabrel was kind enough to make room for the magazine’s cameras.

A report by Karine Comazzi, Jean-Charles Guichard and Nicolas Berthelot.
