Within the Scopelec company, 800 jobs are threatened. Orange preferred other subcontractors. The employees challenge Emmanuel Macron and Marine Le Pen on the situation.

Due to a particularly heavy social plan, 800 jobs in the Scopelec cooperative are threatened. The employees of the company published, Thursday, April 21, a letter in the daily press. “You can’t let this happen in silence”, they wrote to Emmanuel Macron and Marine Le Pen. The company is an Orange subcontractor, specializing in the installation of fiber optics. The operator preferred other subcontractors to him at the end of 2021.

On the Castres site (Tarn), the employees are distraught. “People who have families, who have loans on their backs, who have a wife who does not work. (…) They are in the hot seat”says Xavier Lasserre, quality controller. “We feel that Orange does not want to support us”, adds Frédéric Mazars, union delegate FO. Orange justifies its change of subcontractor by a drop in quality of service and adds to support the company in the crisis, up to 43 million euros. A derisory support, according to Scopelec.
