Strasbourg police officers seized 800 fireworks mortars in a car trunk on Monday a few days before the New Year, France Bleu Alsace reported on Wednesday December 27. Two people were taken into custody, Strasbourg police said on the social network X.
The capture was carried out in the Hautepierre district. The police surprised two young men taking boxes out of the trunk of a car. They seized 800 tubes each loaded with eight projectiles, for a total of 6,400 possible detonations.
The purchase, sale, transfer, use, carrying and transport of these fireworks are prohibited by prefectural decree until January 3, 2024 in the two Alsatian departments. The two young men will be summoned to court in the coming weeks.
