Eight months suspended prison sentence, 60,000 euros fine and five years of ineligibility were required against Jean-Christophe Cambadélis, Monday June 24, noted a franceinfo journalist present at the hearing. The former first secretary of the Socialist Party is on trial for embezzlement of parliamentary mandate fees.

The decision was put under advisement until September 4. At the end of 2023, the Court of Cassation rejected an appeal from the former PS first secretary, who challenged the refusal of a guilty plea procedure. Jean-Christophe Cambadélis had accepted an appearance on admission of guilt (CRPC) which was held at the Paris judicial court in June 2022, for the embezzlement of 114,057 euros in representative compensation for mandate costs (IRFM) between 2015 and 2017.

At the time, Jean-Christophe Cambadélis had admitted the facts and accepted the sentence, proposed by the National Financial Prosecutor’s Office (PNF), of six months of suspended imprisonment and one year of ineligibility also accompanied by the suspended sentence.
