Three shootings in one night
Three shootings – including a murder – therefore occurred in the space of a few hours on Saturday evening.
Around 9:15 p.m., the SPVM was called to the corner of rue Jacques-Rousseau and avenue Élie-Beauregard in the Rivière-des-Prairies sector in connection with gunshots.
The shots caused no injuries. Casings were however found at the scene. So far, no suspects have been identified in this case.
The same evening at 9:40 p.m., the police were notified of shots fired at a residence in the borough of Mercier–Hochelaga-Maisonneuve on Avenue Desmarteaux near Avenue de Coubertin.
The shots came from a moving vehicle, reports the SPVM. No injuries are reported. Bullet holes were located on the dwelling and a vehicle parked on the street.
“We have no information indicating a link between these events,” said agent Caroline Chèvrefils, spokesperson for the police force.
At least nine incidents involving firearms have occurred since the beginning of April, according to a compilation by The Press.
