The film, one of the producers of which is Montrealer Roger Frappier tells the story of two brother breeders, Phil and George Burbank (Benedict Cumberbatch and Jesse Plemons) who, always close, see their relationship turned upside down when the latter brings his new wife ( Kirsten Dunst) and her son at home.

The film West Side Story by Steven Speilberg won the award for best comedy and best musical film in addition to winning two performance awards given to Rachel Zegler and Ariana DeBose.

In addition, the feature film Dune by Denis Villeneuve just won the award for best original soundtrack at the Golden Globes gala, including the 79e edition, shunned by the entire Hollywood industry and abandoned by its former broadcaster, the NBC channel, is presented in a vacuum.

This prize was awarded to composer Hans Zimmer. The latter is this evening in his eleventh nomination for the best soundtrack. He had won a first Oscar in 1995 for The lion king.

The award for the best original song went to No Time to Die portrayed by Billie Eilish in the most recent James Bond film.

As usual, the gala takes place at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills. It is practically the only constant which holds compared to the ceremonies of the last years. For the rest, this gala once very popular with the Hollywood gratin takes place without the finalists, without stars, without red carpet.

For the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA) which is organizing the gala, this situation is attributable to the pandemic. But in fact, Hollywood has taken a united front against the Golden Globes in the wake of the scandals and discomforts that have accumulated over the years.

Surveys have shown, among other things, that the organization, which has around 100 voting members, had no black representative until recently. Just like the fact that about thirty members visited the film set of the series Emily in Paris in 2019 and stayed in a five-star hotel at production expense.

For tonight’s gala, the HFPA tried unsuccessfully to attract at least a few stars as presenters. All refused.

According to an article published by Variety In the last few hours, representatives of organizations receiving charitable aid from the HFPA, responsible for the gala, have been recruited to announce the winners of the evening.
