(Cannes) The Cannes Film Festival announced Friday the open-air screening of several films, including the adaptation of the humorous comic Silex and the cityas well as the arrival of Italian actress Valeria Golino for a series.
Four first titles have been announced for the Cinéma de la plage, an open-air program open to the public, including Silex and the citydirected by the designer Jul, with an unusual voice cast, including the former French president François Hollande, the actress and wife of François Hollande Julie Gayet, the Franco-Luxembourgish television host Stéphane Bern, the French actress Léa Drucker and the Belgian writer Amélie Nothomb.
Silex and the city is one of the great successes of contemporary humorous comics, with nine albums sold more than a million copies and a series of 180 animated episodes which were broadcast on the Franco-German television channel Arte.
The international film festival in Cannes, a city on the French Riviera, also announced the arrival of Italian actress Valeria Golino to The art of joyadaptation of the novel of the same title by Goliarda Sapienza.
The first episode of this project with Italian actress and director Jasmine Trinca and French-Italian actress, screenwriter and director Valeria Bruni-Tedeschi, will be screened. It is designed as a series, but will be released theatrically in Italy.
The festival will be held from May 14 to 25, with filmmakers such as the American Francis Ford Coppola, the Greek Yorgos Lanthimos and the Frenchman Jacques Audiard in the race for the Palme d’Or.
The festival has yet to announce the composition of its jury, chaired by the director of barbiethe American Greta Gerwig.
