(Paris) A French actress who handles humor and known in Hollywood: Camille Cottin will officiate as mistress of the opening and closing ceremonies of the 77e Cannes Film Festival, from May 14 to 25, announced Thursday the media France Télévisions and Brut, partners of the event.
The 45-year-old actress, who started out in comedy, has seen her career accelerate in recent years.
His role as a supercharged artistic agent in the series Ten percent made her known to as many people as possible and opened the doors to Hollywood, where she made several films.
She played with Ridley Scott (House of Gucci), with Matt Damon (Stillwater) or in a biopic on former Israeli Prime Minister Golda Meir (golda).
The Festival chose the American Greta Gerwig, director of barbieone of the largest blockbusters last year, to chair the jury. The latter will elect the film which will succeed the 2023 Palme d’Or, Anatomy of a fall by Justine Triet.
Quebec director Xavier Dolan will chair the jury for the Un certain regard section.
The selection of the 77e edition must be announced on April 11.
Among the most anticipated films, and which could be selected, a megaproject by Francis Ford Coppola with Adam Driver and Forest Whitaker, Megalopolisthe adaptation of the book Limonov by Emmanuel Carrère by the Russian Kirill Serebrennikov, or a musical comedy by the Frenchman Jacques Audiard in the world of drug trafficking in Mexico.
