(Los Angeles) The series “Shogun,” an epic epic about power struggles in 17th-century feudal Japan, topped the Emmy Awards race Wednesday, with 25 nominations for television’s equivalent of the Oscars.
It will notably face the last season of the saga “The Crown”, about the British royal family, for the prize for best drama series, as well as the adventures of the spy couple “Mr & Mrs Smith” and the science fiction series “The Three-Body Problem”.
On the comedy front, the second season of “The Bear: Eat In or Go Out” continues to make waves, garnering a record 23 nominations in these categories. This grueling behind-the-scenes look at a Chicago restaurant will be up against “Hacks,” “Abbott Elementary,” “Only Murders in the Building” and “Larry and His Navel.”
In the miniseries category, which also includes anthologies, the latest season of “True Detective” leads the way with 19 nominations. Jodi Foster, who plays a police officer investigating in the polar night of Alaska, is notably nominated for best actress in a miniseries.
The 76e The ceremony will be held on September 15 in Los Angeles.
