76th Cannes Film Festival | John C. Reilly will chair the jury of Un Certain Regard

(Paris) The American actor John C. Reilly, who has distinguished himself in films by Martin Scorsese, Paul Thomas Anderson and Jacques Audiard, will chair the jury of Un certain regard, one of the official selections of the Festival of Cannes, the organizers announced on Tuesday.




He succeeds Italian director and actress Valeria Golino.

“I experienced so many unforgettable moments at the Cannes Film Festival, from my unexpected first visit with Paul Thomas Anderson until my 50e anniversary, celebrated on the stage of the Palace! It is therefore an incredible honor for me to be chosen as president of the Un certain regard jury, ”reacted the 57-year-old actor, quoted in the press release.

John C. Reilly will be accompanied by French director Alice Winocour (See Paris againpresented last year at the Quinzaine des cinéastes), actresses Paula Beer (Frantz by François Ozon), and Émilie Dequenne (revealed at Cannes in 1999 in Rosetta) and director Davy Chou (Return to Seoulpresented in the Un certain regard section in 2022).

The 2023 Un Certain Regard selection includes twenty films. Among them, eight are first films. Salem by Frenchman Jean-Bernard Marlin (Scheherazade) has been added to the selection.

Last year, it was the film by French directors Lise Akoka and Romane Gueret, The worstwhich had won the Un Certain Regard Prize.

The 76e edition of the Festival has yet to announce the composition of its jury, chaired by Swedish director Ruben Östlund, who won his second Palme d’Or last year with his film Without filter.
