75th Cannes Film Festival | The Worst wins the Un Certain Regard award

(Cannes) The Un Certain Regard Prize, the main parallel section of the 75e Cannes Film Festival, centered on “author and discovery cinema”, went to French film on Friday The worst by Lise Akoka and Romane Gueret.

Posted at 3:57 p.m.

The film chosen by the jury chaired by Valeria Golino tells of a wild distribution in a city of Boulogne-sur-Mer.

Between reality and fiction, the film required a long work of immersion and the meeting of hundreds of children.

The two co-directors, Lise Akoka and Romane Gueret, both worked in the distribution or coaching of children for the cinema, an experience that informed the film. They had notably shot a web series for Arte, You prefer.

The first Pakistani film presented at Cannes, joyland by Saim Sadiq, walks away with the jury prize.

The prize for directing went to Romanian Alexandru Belc for metronom.

Two performers share the prize for best performance: Luxembourg’s Vicky Krieps for her role as Empress Sissi in Bodice and Adam Bessa, who lends his features to Ali, a young Tunisian who lives on contraband gasoline sold on a piece of sidewalk, in Harka.

The best screenplay went to the Palestinian film Mediterranean Fever by Maha Haj.

Rodeothe first feature film by Frenchwoman Lola Quivoron, about a band of marginal bikers, left with a consolation prize: the “jury’s favourite”.
