A 69-year-old man survived an attempted murder Wednesday in the Rivière-des-Prairies area of Montreal.
It was calls to 911 that brought the police to the scene where several shots were heard around 4:30 p.m. on Boulevard Gouin Est, near Avenue Paul-Dufault.
When the police arrived, they found several cartridge cases in front of a residence on Boulevard Gouin Est as well as a gun projectile impact on a vehicle, but no victims or suspects.
It was not until about 30 to 45 minutes later that the victim presented to the hospital for treatment of gunshot wounds to the upper body, but which are not life threatening.
“For the moment, there is no arrest in this event”, underlined a few hours later in the evening the agent Jean-Pierre-Brabant, spokesperson for the Police Department of the City of Montreal (SPVM).
“The security perimeter is maintained on Boulevard Gouin, not far from Avenue Paul-Dufault. The investigators as well as the forensic identity technicians are on the scene as well as the canine squad which continues the research, ”he indicated, while specifying that the victim was to be questioned by the investigators of the SPVM.
This did not seem to be known to the police, which the investigation will have to confirm.
Meanwhile, police have been door-to-door in the neighborhood hoping to learn more about the circumstances surrounding the gunfire. Contrary to recent firearms-related events in the metropolis, no vehicles were seen leaving the scene with a bang.
At least one individual would have walked in front of the address in question and he would have opened fire, according to testimonies which had to be validated by the police, especially since it was not immediately known. how this person left the scene and in what direction.
The SPVM investigation is continuing.
