65th Grammy Party | Two Grammys for Yannick Nézet-Séguin

Montreal conductor Yannick Nézet-Séguin won two trophies out of a possible five at the first Grammy ceremony on Sunday afternoon.




He was first awarded with the Metropolitan Opera for the best recording of an opera, with Fire Shut Up In My Bones by Terence Blanchard. He went on to win, as a pianist, the Grammy for Best Classical Solo Vocal Album for Voice Of Nature – The Anthropocenea collaboration with American soprano Renée Fleming

Yannick Nézet-Séguin, who was not present in the room, received his prizes on Sunday afternoon during a ceremony lasting more than three hours during which dozens of trophies were awarded, i.e. for the majority of the 91 categories . The Premiere Ceremony was not televised, but could be followed online.

For their part, the other Quebec artists in the running, Allison Russell who was nominated twice, Kaytranada, Arcade Fire and Xavier Dolan for his work on Adele’s music video Easy On Mereceived no awards.
