Jean-Paul Mattéi, deputy and president of the Modem group in the National Assembly, is the guest of “4 Truths” of France 2, Friday April 14.

The Constitutional Council is due to deliver its opinion on Friday April 14 on the government’s pension reform project. “The Constitutional Council may have to censor some measures which could be considered as ‘legislative riders'”, believes Jean-Paul Mattéi, deputy and president of the Modem group in the National Assembly, guest of the “4 Truths” of France 2, Friday April 14. And the chosen one to quote in particular “the senior index, the senior CDI”.

Would a green light for a shared initiative referendum (RIP) be progress? “What was requested as part of the RIP […] lacks a bit of density. Afterwards, it is a democratic tool that must be respected, we will see. I think we had a useful and necessary text for financial balance, we need to have this process of going through with this text”says Jean-Paul Mattei.

“We do not forbid ourselves anything on the reflection of the evolution of this text”

Is there a review clause? “There will be the submission of a report to the 1er October 2027. It will be quite possible at that time to take up this question. […] 64 is a form of financial security to justify the financial balance of this reform. This does not mean that nothing is closed”advances the president of the Modem group to the National Assembly.

That’s to say ? “On assumptions of unemployment rate, growth, on which this text is built, these are variable things. Over time, we know that these pension reforms we often come back to, it is not something We have set a course. […] We do not refrain from anything on the reflection of the evolution of this text. In my opinion, there are plenty of opportunities to get together with the social partners to work together on these substantive issues”says Jean-Paul Mattei.
