A 64-year-old man was sentenced to two years in prison for possession and dissemination of pornographic images of minors, the general management of the National Gendarmerie said on Friday March 3.
On January 13, the gendarmes of the Research Section (SR) of Orleans opened an investigation under a pseudonym in order to detect this type of content on a discussion forum. Under the profile of a man in his sixties, they enter into discussion with another man, aged 64. During the conversation, he does not hesitate to share his attraction for young girls aged 6 to 15 years. He then transmits an image of a child to the investigator.
Judged immediate appearance on March 1
The 60-year-old was taken into custody on January 19. He recognizes his attraction to very young children. His computer equipment is seized. Above, more than 11,000 child pornography images, representing children aged 4 to 10, were discovered. Placed again in police custody on February 28, he was the subject of a psychiatric examination which established the existence of unequivocal pedophile behavior.
Judged for immediate appearance on March 1, the man was sentenced to 24 months in prison for possession and dissemination of images of a minor of a pornographic nature, with a warrant of deposit, accompanied by an obligation of care as well as a ban on carry out an activity related to minors. He is also registered in the File of perpetrators of sexual or violent offenses (Fijais).
Investigations as part of Operation Horus
In a fortnight, this is the second individual sentenced for acts of cyberpedocriminality after an investigation under a pseudonym carried out by the SR of Orleans. On February 15, a 41-year-old man was sentenced to three years in prison, with a ban on exercising a profession related to children and an obligation to care. The investigation under a pseudonym had been carried out through the profile of a 14-year-old minor. In police custody, he admitted having made sexual proposals to several 15-year-old minors and having exchanged pornographic content with two 11-year-old and 13-year-old girls.
These research investigations of online pedophile sexual predators are part of Operation Horus, carried out under the direction of the Gendarmerie Command in cyberspace (Comcybergend). They aim to fight against online sexual predators. More than a hundred gendarmes specialized in conducting investigations under a pseudonym are mobilized.
