In Paris, 64 people were arrested and placed in police custody for “participation in an armed group, possession of weapons and explosives” as well as “other related offences”, between 1:45 p.m. and 2:10 p.m., Saturday October 5, France Bleu Paris learned from the Paris prosecutor’s office. They were arrested “on the instructions of the prefect”, in the 5th arrondissement of the capital, in the Jussieu district, near the Quai de la Tournelle and Boulevard Saint-Germain, specifies the prosecution.
During the police operation, the police found protective masks and telescopic batons, but also explosives, according to the prosecution.
The Paris police headquarters adds that the people arrested had participated, earlier in the day, in “an undeclared gathering”, Place de la République, in the 11th arrondissement. They then took “public transport in order to go to a private event to object to its holding”.
