62-year-old pilot dies in plane crash

A 62-year-old man lost his life this morning Friday February 25 during the takeoff of a small plane tourism from Roanne aerodrome (Loire). The aircraft crashed on the runway shortly before 10 a.m. He had just left the mainland. The pilot, alone on board, died instantly. The cops are on the spot. “We don’t know yet what happened, there was a problem just after takeoff… He tried to turn around and crashed“, describes Delphine Marnat, head of the Roannais Agglomeration airport service.

The air transport gendarmerie brigade is in charge of the investigation. The device is still there and will also be examined during the day by the Parisian teams of the BEA (Accident Investigation Bureau). The exact causes of the tragedy are yet to be defined. The pilot in question had his own plane, a D195. He was one of the regulars at the airfield, where his aircraft had been in use for over a year.
