The Paris Commercial Court accepted Monday, December 13 the takeover offer of France Loisirs by the group Financière Trésor du Patrimoine, according to information from franceinfo. The book club had been in liquidation since the end of October, with several million euros of debt to be paid off.
The takeover offer marks the elimination of nearly 600 jobs, or four out of five employees. Of the 122 stores in France, there will now only be 14. Poitiers, Niort and Auxerre will have to close.
The offer of the Financial Treasure of Heritage was the “best option we had”, assures the lawyer of the CSE of France Loisirs. The second offer, that of the Reworld Media group, provided, in addition to layoffs, to close the subsidiaries, that is to say the call center, logistics or the publishing division.
The new owner claims to want to keep these subsidiaries with the aim of perpetuating the DNA of France Loisirs.
