A skeleton found in Pas-de-Calais could be that of a woman who disappeared in 1967. Analyses are underway and the investigation will be reopened by the cold case unit.
On the construction site of the municipal swimming pool in Bully-les-Mines (Pas-de-Calais), workers discovered, a few meters underground, the skeleton of a woman, who was lying in a fetal position. It could be that of Fatima Abdesselam-Tani, a young nurse who mysteriously disappeared 57 years ago. On July 4, 1967, the young woman left her home to go shopping and disappeared. Her abandoned car was found 5km from her home as well as her completely torn clothes.
The police from the cold case unit in Nanterre will reopen the investigation. “There may be clues that were left behind when this person was buried.”says Commissioner Franck Dannerolle, judicial police, head of the Central Office for the Suppression of Violence against Persons (OCRVP). The bones are currently being examined in a scientific police laboratory.
