Become your own boss by founding a company or taking the reins of an existing company… A project that one in four French people (24% precisely) thinks of, reveals an Opinionway survey for the Go Entrepreneurs trade show, which is being held on Wednesday 5 and Thursday, April 6 at Paris La Défense Arena. This desire is expressed above all by the youngest: 52% of 18-24 year olds aspire to become a business leader. And among all these suitors, women outnumber men.

>> Business creation: more and more women in charge

What explains this attraction to business creation? Despite recruitment difficulties in certain sectors due to the lack of a trained workforce, the unemployment rate is at a relatively low level in France. And in this dynamic but complicated job market, many want to get started to implement their project. The taste for entrepreneurial adventure despite recruitment difficulties.

A budget of at least 22,000 euros

More than 60% of the people questioned by the authors of this study ensure that they have already started the preparation of their project. And this is in addition to the number of creations that are already on the rise in France. The new companies created exceed the one million mark. Nearly 60% of women and men, rather young therefore, who wish to create their own structure – or take over a company with its employees – intend to do so within two years. Either they take over an already established company, or they create their own structure by becoming self-employed, in particular by taking on the status of autoentrepreneur.

There remains the question of funding, which appears to be one of the main concerns. While budding entrepreneurs claim to have an average available capital of 9,900 euros, they estimate between 22,000 and 23,000 euros the funds needed to finance their project the first year.
