500 classes closed in Normandy and more than 1,800 students infected by the Covid

The Académie de Normandie takes stock of the region’s educational establishments. A week after the start of the school year, 501 classes are closed, but no establishment has been forced to close its doors completely. The academy records a total of 1,876 confirmed cases of Covid among students and 55 among staff.

Nationally, 28 school structures are currently closed : 20 schools, 6 colleges and 2 high schools. Added to this are 9,202 classes. In addition, national education lists 47,453 declared confirmed cases of students and 5,631 declared confirmed cases of personnel.

To denounce “the mess” in schools since the start of the school year, two unions call for strike Thursday January 13, 2021, SNUIPP FSU, the majority union in primary education, and SE Unsa.
