Firearms, fights, sexual assaults, excessive consumption of alcohol: a bar in the DIX30 district of Brossard is fined $10,000 because of the “disorder” that reigns there.
Since 2020, the Longueuil Agglomeration Police Service (SPAL) says it has had to dispatch officers “daily” to the Dirty D bar due to the actions of customers and staff.
In total, 50 events linked to acts of violence or excessive alcohol consumption in this Mexican bar were recorded by the police between July 2020 and September 2023.
The Régie des alcools, des courses et des jeux (RACJ) finally decided to intervene because of the nuisance to public peace in the area. His court recently gave Dirty D a seven-day suspension of his liquor license, in addition to a fine.
“The establishment is operated in a marginal manner and attracts an equally marginal clientele which amplifies the disorder,” we can read in an analysis report of the bar carried out by the SPAL.

“Trash” bar
Located on the corner of a busy street in the DIX30 district, the Dirty D describes itself on its website as “a more “trashy” neighborhood bar”.
He also invites his future customers to come and “screw things with us”.
Some, however, would have taken this invitation literally, since two individuals were stabbed there in recent years.
“The presence and use of bladed weapons could have led to even more deplorable consequences both for the employees and for the customers frequenting the place at those times,” notes the manager of the RACJ, Ms.e France Thériault.
Another man was seen on surveillance cameras running “after the victim in front of the entrance to the bar and, a little further away, pointing at her with a handgun,” we can read in the RACJ decision.
In November 2022, the SPAL also launched a wanted notice in order to identify and locate a customer who allegedly hit another with a bottle of alcohol before leaving the premises. The police have still not been able to find the suspect.

The SPAL had to intervene 18 times at this bar for fights. On one occasion, a doorman even allegedly hit a customer of the establishment.
Two sexual assaults also allegedly took place inside the bar. Among other things, a woman was allegedly drugged and then attacked.
Excessive consumption
The authorities had to take care of many bar patrons because of their excessive alcohol consumption. In particular, around ten people had to be transported to a hospital center.
An ambulance even had to be called for an employee who was in an advanced state of intoxication.
SPAL police officers also had to carry out two interventions to find intoxicated individuals who had gone missing from the establishment.
