A 5-year-old child was injured Wednesday morning in a collision caused by the driver of a vehicle crossing the street at a red light, in Pointe-aux-Trembles, east of Montreal.

The collision occurred around 8:10 a.m. at the corner of Marien Avenue and Sherbrooke Street East. The driver, who was traveling southbound on Marien Avenue, allegedly crossed in front of a red light, hitting head-on a vehicle traveling on Sherbrooke Avenue.
Two children and two adults were inside the struck vehicle. A 5-year-old child was transferred to a hospital, but there is no fear for his life, said spokeswoman for the Service de police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM), Véronique Comtois.
The driver, who allegedly ran on a red light, is a 26-year-old man. He met with investigators on Wednesday to determine his involvement in the crash.
This busy intersection in the east of the metropolis has two streets with two-way traffic. There are traffic lights and pedestrian crossings.
Investigators moved to the scene of the collision.
