(Vancouver) Teck Resources managed to increase its fourth quarter profit compared to the same period last year thanks to the intensification of operations at its Quebrada Blanca mine, in Chile, and the production of a record quantity of copper.
The Vancouver mining company says it made profit attributable to shareholders of $483 million, or 92 cents per share, for the quarter that ended Dec. 31.
That was up from $266 million, or 51 cents per share, reported a year earlier.
On an adjusted basis, Teck says it earned $1.40 per share in its most recent quarter, up from adjusted earnings of $1.07 per share a year earlier.
Its revenues totaled 4.11 billion, compared to 3.14 billion in the fourth quarter of 2022.
Its production amounted to 103,000 tonnes of copper during the last quarter, compared to 65,000 tonnes a year earlier, while the production of zinc concentrate was 182,000 tonnes, compared to 143,000 tonnes a year earlier. earlier.
Production of refined zinc totaled 70,000 tonnes, compared to 46,000 tonnes a year earlier.
Steelmaking coal production reached 6.4 million tonnes in the fourth quarter, up from 4.9 million tonnes a year earlier.
