At least 48 people were killed in two days in western Sudan during attacks by paramilitaries of the Rapid Support Forces (FSR), who also fought Friday, September 27 with the army in the capital Khartoum, despite calls from the UN for a ceasefire.
The situation in Sudan, the scene of a war since April 2023 between the RSF of General Mohamed Hamdane Daglo and the army led by General Abdel Fattah al-Burhane, de facto leader of the country, was the subject of discussions this week on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.
RSF artillery strikes killed 30 people and injured dozens of others in the town of el-Facher on Friday, a medical source at the university hospital in the capital of the vast region of North Darfur. The RSF, who have been besieging this city of some two million inhabitants for months, launched an offensive there last weekend.
