The actor, who will be part of the cast of the play Free visit 2.0talks with us about summer theatre, his 45 years in the business and the passions that occupy him.
Marcel Leboeuf was thrilled to talk to us about Free visit 2.0, by Michel Charette and François Chénier, which will be presented at the Théâtre des Hirondelles this summer. In this play, the actor plays various characters.
“It reminds me a bit of the style of works from the 1980s. There had started to be pieces with several characters, including brew, which created a fashion. So it’s a bit of a reminder of that. When I opened my summer theater in 1989, the actors were asked to play four or five roles,” Marcel Leboeuf tells us, happy that the creators of the play thought of him.
“I am happy to perform in this play this summer. My theater, I sold it in 2004. Sometimes I miss it a bit. But, luckily, there are summer pieces for me. It helps me to keep a financial balance. You have to earn a living!”
With Michel Charette and François Chénier, authors of the play, Marcel Leboeuf maintains a beautiful bond spread over several years: “We played together for a long time in ladies night, so we have a 20-year complicity. From ladies nightwe had been thinking for a long time that we wanted to do something together again.
And Free visit 2.0 has arrived. THE timing was perfect.”
more zen
For Marcel Leboeuf, doing summer theater is like being at home.
“I can’t wait to show people what we practiced. At first, I was more panicked at the idea of going on stage, but today, this is no longer the case. For me, it’s like my mother calling me to eat soup. This zenitude, he won it with his 45 years of business. A career he is far from regretting.
“As with everyone, there are strong moments, others weaker ones. There are times when I question myself. Am I doing the right thing? After 45 years, I know I’m in the right place.” However, he admits that the more the years go by, the more difficult it is to obtain a role on the screen. “I will be 69 this summer. People my age are less in demand. On TV, it’s mostly actors in their 20s, 30s, 40s and 50s. Afterwards, it decreases a little.
Nonetheless, the comedian has a few passions other than acting to occupy himself with. “I always have a project. I don’t limit myself to my job, which I love. I give conferences, I have a small vineyard and a sugar shack. I don’t make a fortune with it, but it keeps me busy and it keeps me alive, ”he reveals to us. Besides, he always has maple butter in his car since Michel Charette declared on his social networks that it was the best!
Play with spouse
In addition to the summer theatre, Marcel Leboeuf can be seen in Kilucru Island, where he plays Trollilo. “I love acting on children’s shows. And since I play a troll, I can do anything, as long as I respect the level of language. And the children recognize me.” His spouse, Lise Martin, interprets Dalia. This character made him want to create his own show. “For a year and a half, my girlfriend has been performing in schools. Her name is Lili Mallette and she arrives with her suitcases, which are her decor. She does a 20-minute performance on self-esteem and the acceptance of difference. Then she stays for an hour with the young people, who all do a job from the show. She’s the one who built it all.”
We can also see the actor in the third season of the series The red wristbandswith VAT.
The room Free visit 2.0 will be on view from June 16 to August 26 at the Théâtre des Hirondelles, in Saint-Mathieu-de-Beloeil.
