“438”, KNLO | The duty

Two years after unpacking his Surprise bagKNLO, emeritus member of Alaclair Ensemble, returns with 438, an album that is aesthetically less scattered and more thoughtful lyrically. More rap, the first half of the album is considered the proverbial return to basics, with productions by Vlooper, SevDee or KNLO itself (Craqnuques). Prosody assured on the bouncing trap Bosslab, more melodic over melancholic Nintendo, funky and ingenious on Drug And Until the end, drill on Ice, in a duo with veteran Le Youngin (aka Ti-Kid from Sans Pression). Even the only groove afrobeat from the album has more bite: the festive anthem Tanningthe tonic rhythm, a collaboration with Micro, followed just after by the traditional Jamaican wink, a duet with singer Neto Yuth entitled Bidibum — on the legendary riddim Real Rock ! The last quarter delights, KNLO lurking in soul and R&B (with Caro Dupont on two tracks), notably on the convincing ballad Each morninga little gem.
