Rita Baga, François Pérusse, Rachid Badouri and Les Trois Accords are part of the free outdoor programming at 41e Just for Laughs festival, which will take place from July 20 to 29. This edition will bring together more than 600 comedians, artists and musicians for 400 outdoor performances in the Quartier des Spectacles.
“You understand that we had fun putting it together, this festival,” said Patrick Rozon, Chief Creative Officer of Just for Laughs, during the unveiling of the program on Tuesday.
The event is meant to be colorful. Between the opening show by Rachid Badouri and the closing show of Les Trois Accords, guests such as Messmer, Rosalie Vaillancourt, Eddy King and Alexandre Barrette will follow one another on the main stage.
Music will mix with humor throughout the event, with PA Méthot’s Méga Party Rock, the Jam à Morgan and the Just for Chill evening, which will bring together Quebec comedians and rappers for an evening.
On the Loto-Québec stage, comedians like Michelle Desrochers, Mélanie Couture, Coco Belliveau and Richardson Zéphir will present their Line-ups favorite artists.
The festival will also present the Cabaret du peuple, an immersion in the work of François Pérusse directed by Guillaume Lambert and supported by numerous actors, on the Loto-Québec stage.
Innovative facilities
“Our designers are coming to us this summer with a completely redesigned site,” said Charles Décarie, President and CEO of the Just for Laughs Group, which expects to receive 1 million visitors to the festival site.
In addition to its shows, Just for Laughs offers street theatre, fun trails, immersive experiences and a gourmet food court. At the entrance to each site, visitors will be greeted by “comedy sommeliers”, who will guide them to the show best suited to their tastes.
The Family Zone will offer 45 shows, including those of “humour-poussette”, humorous performances for young parents. The Barbada drag queen will entertain children with her hour of reckoning, July 20-24. Trampolines, escape games, climbing walls and giant board games will also be offered to young and old.
