After a relaxation of the rules, the wearing of the mask could be again obligatory in all the interior public places. Government instructions have not yet been given, but 41 departments have already reintroduced the wearing of masks, including on the street.

Following the fifth wave, the Parisian markets did not wait for government decisions to return to wearing the compulsory mask. Despite a health pass required at each entrance, the mask is now essential, including outside the markets. “It’s completely normal, it reassures us. Even having taken the two doses we can catch it”, testifies a merchant. On the customer side, this new instruction is less well received: “My feeling is very mixed. I understand that it is obligatory, but I do not know if it is really effective, because we take the story from the beginning”, says one of them.

Several epidemiologists see this decision as a useful measure for busy places such as concerts, markets or even gatherings. For the time being, 41 departments have already made wearing a mask compulsory, including Ille-et-Vilaine. “We’re going to have to redo the police and that’s not our role first” deplores the employee of a bar located in the city of Rennes.
