The water crisis “is not yet behind us” alert Christophe Béchu in an interview published by the newspaper Release Wednesday September 13 in the evening. The Minister of Ecological Transition notably declared that 189 municipalities are currently deprived of drinking water. This number has more than doubled since the last inventory: as of August 10, 85 municipalities no longer had tap water.

The minister affirms, still in the interview, that “a lot” of these municipalities are locatedon the Mediterranean basin” as well as “in the Rhône corridor”. Certain municipalities deprived of water are also recorded in Brittany. This figure nevertheless remains well below that of last year, at the same time, when some 700 municipalities were deprived of running water.

More than 60% of water tables are below seasonal averages, the minister also specified, including “18% at a very low level” for the month of September.
