People on the boulevards, this Thursday, January 13 in Toulouse. Several National Education unions called for demonstrations to protest against the government’s management of the Covid-19 epidemic in schools.
According to the unions, the Toulouse demonstration brought together 4,000 people. The striking teachers notably called for the resignation of Jean-Michel Blanquer, Minister of National Education.
In schools, the movement is very followed: 38.5% of strikers at the national level according to the ministry, 75% according to Snuipp-FSU, the first union in elementary school.
In middle and high schools, 62% of teachers have stopped working throughout France according to the Snes-FSU. The movement is also supported by the FCPE, federation of parents of students, which asked parents not to put their children in school.
Other gatherings were organized in western Occitania, notably in Albi, Auch, Cahors, Foix, and Montauban.
