400 meters in a wheelchair | Quebecer Brent Lakatos wins silver

(Paris) Canadian Brent Lakatos won silver at the Paris Paralympic Games on Sunday.


The Dorval native clocked a season-best time of 47.24 seconds in the T53 wheelchair 400-metre final and won a 12e career medal. Lakatos is competing in the Paralympic Games for the fifth time.

Thailand’s world record holder Pongsakorn Paeyo won gold with a time of 46.77.

American Brian Siemann completed the podium with a time of 47.84.

Lakatos, 44, had cruised through his qualifying heat earlier in the day with a time of 49.04, which was his best time of the season.

This is Lakatos’ first medal in Paris. He won four silver medals at the Tokyo Paralympic Games three years ago.
