On their plane from Spain to Uruguay, passengers on a flight experienced long minutes of anguish due to severe turbulence. In the cabin, luggage flew and many overhead bins opened. Broken seats, ripped open compartments, the cabin was even dislocated in some places. Passengers on the Boeing of the Spanish company Air Europa saw their trip interrupted quickly after an emergency landing in Brazil.

Upon landing, around forty injured people were treated. Most suffered from minor bruises and 11 were still hospitalized on Monday, July 1. Some passengers criticized the lack of organization. In May 2024, a 73-year-old British man died when a Singapore Airlines Boeing was caught in intense turbulence.
