(Blaine) Canadian Taylor Pendrith shot a 64 to take a two-shot lead in the 3M Open on Friday.
The Ontario native has a total of 130, or 12 shots under par.
His closest pursuer is Matt NeSmith, who also shot a 64.
Pendrith sank a 30-foot birdie putt on 16e ; it was the sixth of his seven birdies.
Pendrith, 33, has yet to make a bogey during the tournament.
He earned his first PGA victory in May in Texas at the CJ Cup.
Last week, Pendrith finished fifth at the Barracuda Championship in California.
Leading after one round, Jacob Bridgeman shot 70 and slipped to within three shots of Pendrith, along with Andrew Putnam (66).
The group at minus eight is formed by Doug Ghim (64), Lanto Griffin (66), Alex Smalley (65) and Jhonattan Vegas (66).
Canadians Adam Svensson (69), Ben Silverman (68) and Mackenzie Hughes (72) are deadlocked in 18e position, at 136.
