The heat wave intensifies in mainland France. Meteo France has extended its orange vigilance to the heat wave to 38 departmentsSaturday July 16, after placing 16 departments on orange alert on Friday.

Gers, Landes, Lot, Pyrénées-Atlantiques, Hautes-Pyrénées, Alpes-de-Haute-Provence, Ardèche, Drôme, Gard, Gironde, Haute-Garonne, Lot-et -Garonne, Pyrénées-Orientales, Tarn, Tarn-et-Garonne and Vaucluse were all already affected by orange vigilance.
They are joined by Alpes-Maritimes, Ariège, Aveyron, Cantal, Charente, Charente-Maritime, Corrèze, Côtes-d’Armor, Dordogne, Finistère, Ille-et- Vilaine, Isère, Hautes-Alpes, Loire-Atlantique, Maine-et-Loire, Mayenne, Morbihan, Sarthe, Savoie, Haute-Savoie, Deux-Sèvres and Vendée.

According to Météo France, temperatures will rise further on Sunday, “particularly in the South-West where values close to 40°C will often be reached”.
