34th summer festival “Music in Périgord”

“Music in Périgord” returns this week for a 34th edition. “It’s a classical festival, but the classical meaning is quite vague, it goes from music from the Middle Ages, through the baroque, the renaissance and the romantic”, warns Patrice Liénart, the president of this festival. “We even have more contemporary proposals with tango, with a concert dedicated to the Argentinian composer Astor Piazzolla”.

The master of tango who died just 30 years ago will be honored during the first evening. The singer, Yolanda Fresedo invites you to her concert on the banks of the Vézère in Le Bugue, Wednesday July 20 from 9 p.m. Originally from Argentina, she now lives in Paris.

A young audience concert

The festival team makes sure to welcome young audiences. Trio Ernest, in concert in Audrix on Thursday July 21, will welcome the young audience at 11 a.m. in the morning, who will be able to attend the rehearsals.

They will also be able to discover the history of the greatest composers: Mozart, Bach, Handel, Beethoven, Chopin, Saint-Saëns. A concert-conference “the little geniuses of music” is offered to them on Thursday July 28, at 3 p.m. in the church of Saint-Chamassy. The music historian, Patrick Barbier, accompanied by Jean-Marc Pont Marchesi on the piano, tells their journey of these prodigies and evokes the history of their works.
